Many people develop a website under the impression that traffic is just going to start pouring in. This, quite frankly, never happens. To build traffic and eventually earn money from your website, you need to focus on optimizing your content pages and marketing materials so that they can most easily be found on search engines. In other words, you cannot just write whatever you want and hope someone sees it. You actually have to write what people want to see. This process can get a little complicated, but the information below should give you a reasonable idea about what goes on and how you can use it to your advantage.

Whenever someone uses a search engine, he or she normally uses a keyword or keyphrase to search for whatever it is he or she is looking for. This is the way that most people will find your site. In order to effectively reach your audience, you have to know what keywords the people are using to get to sites like yours. Then you have to make sure you use those words in your web content and marketing material so that your site can show up as a result of their search.

Each search engine offers tools for web developers to help them figure out what these keywords are. Google AdWordsKeyword Tool, for instance, allows you to see how many people are looking for a certain keyword online and what common forms of that keyword are being used. There you can also see how many other sites are targeting the same keyword so you get an idea of your competition. Think of words related to the content, products, and services on your site and then see if other people are using them online.

You need to have a good list of keywords to use rather than focusing on one or two. You cannot see how effective they will be from the starting stages, so you need to have a widespread option to build from. Then you can figure out what words most people use to get to you through analytical tools later on. The whole process starts with this keyword research though, and it is vital to your success as a whole. If your site does not have the right words in place, you will not get the right kind of traffic to it. A little research will go a long way for you.

Optimizing a website is founded heavily on the use of keywords, but finding them is just the beginning of the process. Then you have to know how to implement them so they bring forth the most traffic for you. Proper placement and volume of keywords will make a big difference in the way that search engines pick up on your website and how people click on the links in your marketing material. You must learn what to do with your words if you are ever going to get other people onto your site.

One concept that you need to learn to do this is keyword density. A page’s keyword density is the percentage of the content that is taken up by a specific keyword. For example, if a 400 word article contains “keyword” in it 4 times, it has a 1% keyword density for that word. There are more complicated formulas for keyword density out there once you start getting into multi-word phrases, but therein lies the basic idea of the concept.

There are different Search Engine Optimization theories about how high or low your keyword densities should be for your marketing materials and site content. Most people will go with a standard 1% or 2% density for the things they create, but you could go much higher if need be. The problem with 4% densities and beyond is that the article begins to look cluttered with a high density after awhile. They become hard to read and inevitably may turn some readers away altogether. A higher density does not always yield better search engine results, so you need to find a balance for your word usage.

For every web page you have on your site, you need to think about the keywords you use and the densities you provide for each one. You also need to think about where the words are going on the page. A good rule of thumb most people employ is the need for a keyword to be in the first sentence and last sentence of whatever you are trying to work with. For longer content, a few other uses of the keyword should be spread throughout the middle. Try to reiterate the word throughout the document subtly so that you may ultimately have each part of the page register with search engines.

The potential customers of your niche market use long tail keywords that are extremely important to your website’s performance.

A keyword refers to the phrase query entered in a search engine by someone who wants to either find information on a topic, carry out a website transaction, or navigate to a specific website or web page.

Types of Keyword Phrases

There are two general types of keyword phrase queries. One is a short tail keyword phrase which contains two or less words, for example, “dog food.” The other is a long tail keyword phrase which contains three or more words, for example, “organic dog food chunks.”

Longer Search Phrase

A longer search phrase is more targeted and specific than a shorter search phrase. A person using it is deemed closer to purchasing a product than someone who is not.

A longer keyword phrase also less competitive than a shorter keyword phrase. More people search using a shorter phrase query than a longer phrase query; therefore, demand is less for a longer search term than for a shorter search term. Less demand for a specific search term leads to fewer marketers supplying that search term — this makes it less competitive.

Because these longer search phrases are not as competitive, web pages containing them have a greater chance of ranking higher in the search engine results page (SERP). Searchers will open the results on the first page more often than the second page or the third page. The more views your page has, the greater the chance that some of these searchers, who are closest to buying, will actually purchase your product.

Using Longer Search Terms

You can use this knowledge to your advantage if you know the keywords your potential customers, who are closest to purchase, are searching with. There are free and for purchase keyword tools that give a selection of words they are using. You can then utilize this information to determine the best long tail keywords to use in your web content.

Long tail keywords are best used in page headers, links, browser title and anchor texts. They are also used in the body of the web page content; however, they must not be overused to get higher search engine rankings as this abuse is penalized by search engines. To get the maximum results from your efforts, these search query phrases should be used together with high quality web content that complements them; they must also link to relevant topics. Search engines do not choose those words in isolation, but reference them on related content and quality

SEO is a marketing strategy designed to optimize your online presence. Toronto SEO is for companies, businesses and individuals in Toronto who want to expand their reach to internet browsers, and improve their website content and links.

The best thing to do for anyone looking to get an SEO specialist in to look at their website or even to create a completely new website for them is to understand what Toronto SEO is all about. It is a multi pronged approach that is best put into action with a long term view. You can approach web design and SEO consultants to 1) create a new website, 2) completely rebuild your old website, 3) renew and maintain links, keywords, content and the user interface and henceforth maintain page rankings of a current website.

If you do choose to undertake Toronto SEO as an initiative to rebuild your online presence and convert it into a healthy source of revenue for yourself for any of the above projects, it is best to arm yourself with at least some base knowledge about the kind of work that needs to be done. Again, if you do know what you’re getting into as well as the consultant who’s talking you into taking up their services, you’re obviously in a better position to understand what you are putting your money into. Although in no way is not undertaking search engine optimization an advisable way to avoid this hassle. It is just best to walk in to the consultancy equipped.

There are several tools as a part of this process that highlight the areas that you and of course, the consultant or agency you hire will be upgrading and maintaining. All of these will basically translate into more profits for you because once these areas are correctly utilized to their best, the crawlers and algorithms that search engines like Google use find the keywords faster, find more links, and find relevant content and genuine websites at the URL and then the domain, even to the point that the content and the website is promoted well and by using white hat strategies in directories, blogs, forums, etc.

And all of this is what influences the page rankings of a website. Page rankings are a ranking system that determines how high up your website will appear in the search results. Most people who browse the internet only refer to the first and second page when searching for files of any sort. Whether it is information, video, audio or other data files, pages and documents and images, ‘internet traffic’ only halts and peruses the first page or at the very most, the second page of results that a search engine provides.

However, you will notice there are usually thousands of results. Your website, without Toronto SEO is very likely to be one of these. Search engine optimization is comparable to marketing a product or a company to the real world. Certainly the World Wide Web has established itself as a powerful medium for business and social networking. The income that can be generated through this global platform is not to be ignored by any business person.

In today’s modern world, a website is the equivalent of a huge billboard outside his office. Is the window of advertising of all their clients and want people to see. It makes little sense to have an all singing, all dancing website that nobody visits! For an online business to succeed, it is necessary to increase the number of visitors to the site, increase the amount of time they spend on your website and improve your visitor to sales conversion rates.

SEO is all about key terms that people use when looking for information on the Internet. SEO rich content on websites or blogs that allow search engines like Google or Yahoo to find what they push up the top of search results. For example, if you have the words wrong in your site, users seeking information about their products never find your site in a search. news websites and blogs with regularly updated content will attract users and then slowly take them to their final product. Having the right keywords in the content of your website, search engines will find it and so will your customers.

A weblog or online journal, known as ‘blogs’ are a great marketing tool to promote products and services.
Many of the small business owners I speak with don’t see a need to market their business online. They figure that most of their customers are local so most of their advertising should be local as well…and the internet is anything but local.

You’re not one of these owners or you wouldn’t be reading this article right now. You must think it’s possible to get local customers from online marketing or you wouldn’t waste your time.

Like a growing number of people, you and I often turn to the internet first when we search for services and products. Recent studies have found that 87% or more of shoppers do the same thing! And some of these same studies have found that even though they’re searching online for information, over 50% of them will wind up buying in their local market.

Being Found in Google Places is Critical

So how do you get found by these shoppers without spending huge amounts of time or money on search engine marketing, pay per click advertising, or other online marketing?

The best and fastest way is to make sure you’re listed in Google Places (used to be called Google Local Business Center), Yahoo! Local, and Bing Local. Claiming your listing in each of these local search engines is quick and easy and there are many articles and videos to show you how to do it.

Since Google Places is the top search engine, though, I want to focus on the 5 easy steps you can take to get your business listed and work your way to the top of the search results.

Localize Your Site and Content

Think of your entire site as if it tells a story about your business. Just by looking at your home page and your other pages, it should be easy for a person and a search spider to figure out you focus on a specific geographic area. For example, do you have a contact page with a local address and phone number listed? Do you talk about local events, local happenings, and other local businesses and people? If not, you should.

Localize Your Keywords

All search engine marketing begins with your keywords. Make sure you choose keywords that reflect the areas you’re trying to market to. For example, rather than optimizing for ‘lawn care services,’ you should use ‘Wichita lawn care services’ or ‘lawn mowing in derby.’

Maximize Local Portal and Directory Sites

Most cities and towns have websites sponsored by the chamber of commerce, the library, the Rotary club, and/or other organizations. Many times, these sites will list locally owned businesses for little or no cost. If your city is too small for this, see if there are sites for your region or your state or province. In addition, your city or region probably has paid business directories/portals as well that you might want to participate in.

Get Listed in National City Guides

Most of these require payment, but many are very reasonable. If your company is listed in a city guide, it obviously associates you with that specific area, but you can also boost your rankings bay making sure you use your local keywords in your listing as well.

Get Listed in Industry Specific Sites

You should search out well-respected directory sites in your industry as well to help give Google Places a good idea of the services you provide and the other businesses you associate with.

Note: Do not stuff keywords into your listings or articles. Always write for you customers while being mindful of the keywords you want to focus on. Keyword stuffing can get you banned or penalized by Google. It usually doesn’t read well either…which means your potential customers won’t stick around to read what you’ve written.

Your material must always be focused on helping your customers solve their problems and not just be veiled advertisements. Your customers are too smart and have too many other choices available to them to put up with garbage.

Site submission to search engines (SE) and meets the directories on your Web site. These services significantly improve the link popularity of your website and attract visitors to your site through new flows of traffic.

In general, search engine submission refers to getting your site listed with a search engine. These days, the presentation is very easy. It is just a request for an SE to include your site in the index. If you connect to your presentation, you will know what each search engine has its own form of presentation of a site. For example, you need the information from its website as the title, description, keywords and contact email. Sometimes, in a feedback form SE, only the address of the site is necessary. The remaining information must be found by crawlers.

Presentation of a search engine is a technique designed to allow you to proactively search engine aware of the existence of your website. Through a distribution site for which we invite search engines to visit their resources on the Internet and index it. It is more likely that if you publish an index if only a simple web page means that you have information you want to show others. However, this message will not be noticed by people who do not know the exact address of your page. When Internet users search for information, which in turn, using an SE. For each application, refers to its index of web pages ranked by importance. If you want your site to be found by users of this search engine, the distribution may be useful.

Of course, after searching a search engine that you want to index your site immediately. However, this is not always the situation. Still take some time to get robots to their web pages that are in line for assessment, evaluation and indexing. If you can not wait for everything that happens, you can reduce that time period with the “search engine submission.” Most of these lists are presented and the promise that your pages will be analyzed by the spiders in a few days. The main difference relatively basic and paid advertisements in the speed of the spiders is to perform the analysis is clear. Free presentation of a search engine displays the results after a few months. Therefore, the only thing that discouraged this is the price of this service.

The need to use the web site of presentation is obvious, and now is the time for you to concentrate on the case. However, there are opinions that it is not necessary to submit to any search engine. The view holds that the SE finds your site through inbound links. If your site has incoming links from a qualified source, then you do not have to publish it. It is likely to be discovered by crawlers. This link provides a search engine to your pages and your site looks favorable. However, imagine if your site has no inbound links? In this case, until there is some connection between them that will be invisible. Also, if we are announcing a totally new site and want quick results, it would be constructive hardly wait for the crawlers. In these circumstances, an even distribution of a search engine is useful.

Google can help you find long-tail keywords. For most small marketers hoping to rank a website in the search engines, long-tailed keywords are essential. Common, popular keywords are too competitive and the best way into the search engine is through low-competition keyword phrases.

Keyword research software is expensive and often beyond the reach of marketers with a restricted budget. For those marketers, the best available resource for long-tailed keyword research could be Google. Here are techniques for using Google, and its free tools, for long-tail keyword phrase research.

1. Google Adwords External Keyword Tool

This keyword research tool can be found at:
adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Enter the keyword you would like to rank for into the tool and let it search. The keyword tool will collate a list of keyword variations and synonyms. Concentrate on the “Global Monthly Search Volume” column and make a note of all the keywords that have between 200-500 global monthly searches. These are the keywords you have a chance of ranking for. Try to select keyword phrases that are 3-4 words in length, if available.

2. Google Search

Now you need to enter each one of those keywords into Google and perform a search on each one. Enclose each keyword phrase in quotes (““), so that the results are for the long-tailed keyword phrase as a whole and not just any page that contains the individual words at random.

You are looking for the number of pages that use your keyword phrase (i.e. “Displaying 10 of 23,000”). Keep the keywords that have between 25000 and 35000 competing pages – this shows that there is enough competition for the market to be profitable – but not so much that you would have trouble ranking.

3. Check for Optimized Competition

Your main competition will be the results that use your keyword phrases in their domain name, page name, page title, or have links to the listed page that used the keyword phrase as anchor text. You will need to check for these factors for all the long-tailed keyword phrases you have left on your list.

Selecting one keyword phrase at a time, use these 3 different Google search operators (in the search box NOT the address bar) and enclose your keyword phrase in quotes (““) after the operator.

allinurl:

allintitle:

allinanchor:

Now discard the keyword phrases that have more that 50 competing pages for any of these terms and you will be left with a few long-tailed keyword phrases that will be easy to rank for.

Additional Tip: On-Page SEO

Now you have keyword phrases you can rank for, you need to optimize your website. Pick the best long-tailed keyword phrase and use that for the domain name of the site. Use it in the website title, page name and include it in the page content (in the H1-H3 tags and bold, or italicize, it in the content body). Then start adding some backlinks, using that phrase as anchor text. You can use the other keyword phrases in the internal pages of the website – use one keyword phrase per page.

These methods may take a bit of time, but if you do the research correctly and narrow down your keyword phrases and find low competition, you could soon have a website ranked first page on Google and the other major search engines.

Making money online can be easy, but making big money depends on the niche. There are some questions that need answers before they start in a niche, like people are looking for it, will spend the money for that and I want to sell? These are just some of the details you need before choosing a place to build a business around. Let’s see what else needs to know. Sometimes it’s very frustrating and confusing for those interested in a particular niche, only to discover later that there was little demand or not. You knew they were interested in the niche, but nobody seems to be … what is up with that?

Even more disconcerting is to see people spending money in stores in a specific niche, but online is not enough buyers to support their business full time. But as you know how many customers will be online in a particular market before starting to promote? Let’s see what you need to know if you are unsure of a market. One way to find out if people are interested is to write articles and send them to article directories. You can easily find 50-450 word articles written on the specific issue and putting a link on the bottom in what is called the resource box. This is a free and very effective method used to decide if there is interest in the market. If people are clicking on the link and go to your site or remain on the list, then there is a good indication that they are interested.

If you can get on your list with the items, then you will be able to ask for what they really want. This is a great way to discover that a particular group wants and is willing to buy. If you really want to know what the market wants, just ask. If you can expose problems or concerns they may have, then that would be a good time to give a solution, which is a product that just happen to sell. Another way to find out what people want is to ask people you know. This could be friends, relatives, neighbors or coworkers. Ask what they think is hot, what they bought at the store recently, which recently bought online or who are dying to buy. This will give a good indication that people in their need for space, need and are buying.

Another way to find out what people want is to run a Google PPC campaign. This method is not free and you should put a little research on how to do this before entering. PPC can be extremely useful when searching for a niche. Determine what keywords people interested in the niche would be to seek and execute a PPC campaign until you reach 300 clicks. If people do not click your ad, if the word is not correct or are not interested in the niche … period. This type of campaign can take up to a couple of days or a couple of minutes. Either way you’ll know quickly whether the place is a winner or not.

These are just some ways to expose a place is hot or not.
