Opera has launched Opera Turbo, a server-side optimization and compression technology that provides significant increase in browsing speeds over slow internet connections by compressing network traffic. If you have a slow internet connection, then Opera Turbo could be the browser feature to look out for.

Opera Turbo uses “Opera Web Optimization Proxy”, such that though the web sites layout and text look same, image resolution is much lower due to compression. Dynamic Web technologies such as Ajax (XmlHttpRequests) and Flash are supported, but some plugin content will load only after clicking on the empty element. (more…)

5 problems in Internet Explorer 8 March 28, 2009

The latest version of Microsoft browser Internet Explorer 8 has received mixed response from users and analysts. The browser which is getting high marks for a host of navigational and security features, is also being criticised for not being fast enough.

As of last Friday, web reports stated that IE8 only accounted for about one and a half per cent of all internet traffic. Here’s are some of the gripes users have with the new Microsoft browser. (more…)

‘m surrounded by Web browsers. At times, it’s overwhelming. I start to feel as if I’m being pursued by a small army of Web interfaces—or maybe that was a nightmare I had the other night. Perhaps you’ve noticed, too? There are new versions of all the major browsers either available now or arriving soon.
