The Best Blog Platform May 13, 2010

What is the best blog platform is probably a bit of a trick question. Overall, I’d have to say that self-hosted version of WordPress wins hands down. But not in all cases. Sometimes I think it would be better for bloggers using other platforms.

Why is it so good version of self-hosting? Well, you install it for free in your hosting. The software is free to download and use, but if you have a web designer do the work for you, they are entitled to charge for their preparation time.

Free Installation

Once it is running, you can install, again its “free”, plugins also can do the job for you. Additional security for the optimization of search engines that are available for free download. Issues, the basic outlines of his site are also available for free on lots of different pages.

Therefore, self-hosted version of WordPress is completely customizable and has lots of accessories available. And it’s free. What could be better?

The disadvantage of WordPress

Well, for some people, the process of registering a domain name, creating your own hosting and FTP the files to your new site, but not very complicated, it is still a bit technical. It is possible that each and every one to follow some basic instructions to download a WordPress installation and install it, but I can understand why some people support the idea and would prefer otherwise.

So what is it?

Blogger is a best second choice platform

Well, I’d say it’s second favorite blogger. It seems that if you do not use self-hosted of WordPress, you may use Blogger. Blogger is easy to configure and start publishing. Sign up for the service, look for an available name and is operational.

Therefore, it is perfect for those afraid of the technical aspects of self-hosted WordPress, while avoiding the site hosting database hosting and fees. The only drawback is that you have a site name Blogger. This is not as profitable as it has its own name website, if you are entering the field of sponsored posts and so on.

But they have a fix for this. With Blogger, you can follow the instructions on your own domain name and use it to your blog.

Thus, for the technical mind, will and ability to deal with the issue of accommodation, we recommend installing WordPress, while for those who want a quick and easy access to the world of blogs, go to Blogger.

There is an exception!

If you are a blog about certain niches, systems, then there may be special set-up ready for you. I can use WordPress for all my blogs except for my work blog. Because, well, if you are looking for a specialized service provider that focuses on niche blogs, you can get a big advantage.

This advantage can be summarized in one word – traffic. If you get a lot of people with similar interests and they all start to blog, read other blogs on the system.

But Really I still think self-hosted WordPress wins the battle!
