Platinum and SEO All in One SEO Pack are the leaders in the category of seo plugin for WordPress. All in One SEO has been longer and in fact SEO Platinum was built to operate more or less the same All in One SEO. They are almost identical, but Platinum SEO made some important improvements.

So why choose one over the other? Personally, I chose to use Platinum SEO for the following reasons:

1. Platinum SEO provides a definition for “doing 301 redirects to automatically change permalink. This means that if you change the link to their web pages, it will put some code in a” special. “Htaccess” which tells the Search engine Google and others, and all traffic backlink that the previous page’s URL must now go to the new.
2. Perhaps the biggest reason to go with my Platinum SEO is what allows me to one page a noindex “setup to keep search engines out of a page that does not want the list. All in One seo does not have this feature.
3. It has a number of other “in the Settings and options you need all in one, giving more control to each page you create. You can make basic settings in place that you are not having to create each page one by one, but if you want to adjust anything, everything is there on the page edit screen.
4. Ok, this is a nit undemanding, but that figure in my decision to change. All in One SEO is full of advertisements and solicitations for donations. There is nothing wrong with that, and almost all the plugins do, but all in one is a little overboard with it.

If you’re already using All in One SEO, SEO Platinum has the ability to migrate all current values in the facility, so you can make a quick and easy migration of its brands page title, page description and keywords key.

So, in closing, the main reason that made the change was for the ability to define a single page as “nofollow” to keep the search engines to index. Furthermore, both are virtually identical, and seem to function very well in SEO

1. Role Manager

WordPress Version 2.0 introduces the concept of Roles. Each Role is allowed to perform a set of tasks called Capabilities. This Plugin allows you to define and manage multiple subscriber profiles – called Roles and their Capabilities. Also you can create new Roles and Capabilities.

2. Co-Authors

When you have a blog that is being run by multiple authors, there are times that more than one person contribute to an article. One way of displaying that is when you show something like we do by claiming post is written by Editorial Staff. Another way of going about this is showing co-authors and linking to their profile individually. Co-Author Plugin lets you do just that.

3. Author Exposed

Author Exposed is a simple WordPress plugin that allows your visitors easy and elegant way to see more details about the post author. This plugin does the same thing as the_author() tag only this time it’s linked to hidden layer (div). By clicking on the author link the layer pop’s up with author info gathered from the profile page, plus gravatar photo, if author email is assigned with one.

4. Userextra

On Blogs that have multiple authors, it is wise to assign authors to specific categories to avoid confusion. This plugin limits the user to publishing into the categories he/she is assigned.

5. Author Advertising Plugin

This plugin allows blog admins to create a revenue sharing program utilising one of the many advertising programs out there i.e Yahoo, Google Adsense, Amazon, Allposters etc. Admin has complete control over:

• The percentage of author adverts to admin adverts.
• The user level that an author has to be before they get to participate in the revenue sharing program.
• Whether to randomise author ads on the front page of the blog.

6. Pre-Publish Post Reminder

Always forget to insert your signature, thumbnail or maybe a category image? Or need a place to store your code where you can conveniently copy and paste into your post? Need to leave a note for co-authors? This is what this plugin is for – a handy reminder list on your Post Admin page. Go through the list before confidently pressing the Publish button. Now you only need to remind yourself to read the Reminder list.

7. Hide Dashboard

This plugin lets you hide dashboard features from some users. The title just say it all.

8. Post Avatar

This plugin simplifies including a picture when writing posts by allowing the user to choose from a predefined list of images. The image can be automatically shown on the page or output customized with the use of a template tag in themes.

9. User Photo

Allows a user to associate a profile photo with their account through their “Your Profile” page. Admins may add a user profile photo by accessing the “Edit User” page. Uploaded images are resized to fit the dimensions specified on the options page; a thumbnail image correspondingly is also generated. User photos may be displayed within a post or a comment to help identify the author.

10. Post By Author

This plugin will show the last X posts by the current author either at the bottom of every post, or where you manually specify in each post. Using the built-in options page, you can choose the number of posts to show, set the header text, choose to show the post dates, select the format of the date, and choose whether or not to include the current post in the list.

11. List Authors Widget

This plugin display a list of authors in your WordPress Sidebar Widgets linking to the authors.php page.

12. Quick Notes on WP Dashboard

If you blog with multiple persons, you can leave a message for the others. In the plugin file, you can determine, what capabilities a user must have to read the notes, and what capabilities he must have to write/modify them. By default, Authors and higher can write, and every registered user can read.

13. Post Reminder

Posts reminder notifies you when you forget to write a post on the current day. It notifies you at 22:00 to the email you specifiy on the options page.

14. Send Private Email

This plugin lets you send email to all registered users to your blog, you can change it to editors or which role if you choose. To prevent abuse this powerful mass mailing functionality is available only to users with Administrator role. This can be changed quite easily if need be, for instance to allow all Editors or greater to use the plugin.

15. Our Todo List

A simple todo list plugin to share ideas/todos with blog members. All members work together to manage the todo list under “Manage” section in WordPress administration interface.

16. Report Posts

Adds the ability for your users to report a post as innappropriate or incorrect. Reported posts then appear in the manage section of the admin console. Add the link to report the post by calling report_post_link(). Edit the report_posts-popup.php to put the desired text in the popup window.

17. Author Comment WordPress Plugin

This plugin is like Author Highlight. It requires authors to login, but when they make a comment it is posted with custom styles.

18. Audit Trail

Audit Trail is a plugin to keep track of what is going on inside your blog. It does this by recording certain actions (such as who logged in and when) and storing this information in the form of a log. Not only that but it records the full contents of posts (and pages) and allows you to restore a post to a previous version at any time.

19. Future Posts Calendar Plugin

This plugin adds a simple month-by-month calendar that shows all the months you have future posts for (and the current month no matter what), it highlights the days you have posts for, and as an added bonus if you click a day the Post Timestamp boxes change to that day, month and year.

20. Get Author Profile

Get Author Profile is a pretty basic WordPress plugin that lets you manually access an author’s (i.e. user’s) profile. The main purpose is to let you provide author information outside The Loop, such as for a sidebar intro of the blog owner or to list contributors to your blog.

21. WordPress Gravatar Plugin for Authors

WordPress plugin that allows you to display author Gravatar in the post written by that specific author.

In order to eliminate attacks if not minimize them, here are some of the top WordPress security plugins which will help you in this regard.

1. WP Security Scan
This plugin will scan your entire WordPress installation and will suggest you regarding security vulnerabilities like  passwords, database security, file permissions, admin security. It will also hide the version of your WordPress and remove the META tag from the core such that hacking to your WordPress installation would be hard.

2. Secure WordPress
It will help secure WordPress installation by removing miscellaneous items after the installation process which may aid hackers. It will remove error information from the login-page and also remove or change the WP-version data but leave it unchanged in the admin area. It is suggested to remove any unwanted information to the non-admin for security reasons so it will remove update information about plugins, themes and core update information. Secure WordPress will add a blank index.html to the plug-in directory such that if anyone is trying to view the contents of the directory they will be viewing a blank page instead of the contents.

3. WordPress Database Backup
This is the first plug-in to be installed soon after you complete WordPress installation. By installing this plug-in it will force your user browser to connect to your site via a SSL connection. This eliminates any third party attacks between the connection and all the data that is transmitted to and from the site will be encrypted for better security.

5. Chap Secure Login
If you are not having a secure connection like SSL to protect your password , then you can use this plug-in for encrypting passwords. It will use the Chap protocol to hide the passwords and transmit it encrypted. The only information that is transmitted unencrypted is your username. Protecting password will give full security because password leaks will enable the hacker the gain full control of your WordPress blog.

6. Anonymous WordPress Plugin
All the WordPress versions 2.3 and above have the feature to get automatic updates for plugins. During this process it will send some of your information like your blog’s URL, version number, list of installed plugins and activated plugins to WordPress.org. This information could be of potential use for hackers. So to avoid this, installing Anonymous WordPress plug-in is a feasible option. It will strip off your blog’s URL and version number and empty the activated plugins list. This plug-in is compatible with WordPress 2.3 and above.

7. Login Encrypt
This will help encrypt the login information using the complex DES and RSA combination. It uses the JavaScript appended and encrypted the password of the user and generates a unique DES key. And by using this key, user can have secure login each time they login to your blog.

8. Admin SSL

It will block the bots and creates a safe wall for any vulnerability your WordPress blog may have. It will protect your password as well as your WordPress directories like the wp-includes, wp-content, etc. It is like placing your WordPress blog behind a security wall.

I’ve always been a fan of blog comments. During the initial stages of my blog, I’ve experimented with several ways to boost blog comments and I found these plugins to dramatically increase comments on my blog.

DoFollow

DoFollow plugin removes the ‘NoFollow’ tag on your blog comments which means all links to the comment author on your blog will be followed. This plugin alone can effectively increase comments on your blog as long as you let your readers know you have done so.

With time, your blog would be added to DoFollow blog lists which would lead to a lot more comments on your blog and then it could become a little overwhelming. With the comment links followed the comment ‘username’ would usually be a keyword, if this doesn’t bother you it’s fine however you will notice comments that are apparently legit but are actually very unfruitful and meant just for the link.

While I’ve outlined the disadvantage in using the plugin above, it is still the most effective way to increase comments on your blog, so my advice, use DoFollow until you start to see a considerable amount of comments on a daily basis and then turn it off, this is what I did on my blog and while I still have commentators named ‘london hotels’, the comments are completely genuine and usually contributes to the topic efficiently as well. Don’t forget to let your readers know you have turned it off and remove the ‘this blog is dofollow’ sign if you had one before as you wouldn’t want your commentators to feel cheated.

Show Top Commentators Widget

Show Top Commentators Widget displays the commentators who have left most comments on your blog in a specified period of time on your sidebar. This plugin results in multiple comments from the same commentator and is very effective as well as the comments are usually very informative and helpful as well (notice I said ‘usually‘). The commentators are listed on the sidebar linked to the site used by the commentators when leaving the comment and is followed as well.

CommentLuv

CommentLuv plugin automatically displays a link to the last blog post of the commentator at the bottom of the comment by retrieving the first link from the feed in the ‘website’ field of the comment. This plugin gives exposure to the latest content of the commentator and would thus bring more comments to your blog.

WordPress Thread Comment

WordPress Thread Comment plugin allows you to reply to comments and thread them thus encouraging an interactive discussion on a blog post for example. This plugin seamlessly integrates into virtually any WordPress theme (I’ve tried it with around 5 themes and it worked perfectly). I’ve seen commentators reply to questions asked by other commentators and I believe it is mainly because the reply feature makes it so much more convenient to do so.

While comment threading is a native feature From WordPress 2.7, this plugin is a better option as it integrates into any theme but for the comment threading support via WordPress the theme needs to be compatible with the feature. Also, the Thread Comment plugin allows you to send an email to the commentator on receiving a reply, the email contents maybe fully customized as well, thus resulting in recurring visits from the commentator. Not to forget the completely AJAX interface.

IntenseDebate

IntenseDebate plugin virtually transforms the comment section of your blog. From the same company that brings you WordPress, IntenseDebate allows you to have a very interactive discussion on your blog. From the description on the IntenseDebate website “IntenseDebate comments enhance and encourage conversation on your blog or website” and I think this is a very appropriate description.

Features include comment threading, reply-by-email, reputation points (Thumbs up/down), OpenID compatibility and a few other features as well. I used the IntenseDebate for a short period and noticed the slight improvement in comment quality and quantity however it didn’t have support for CommentLuv so I disabled it; later versions of CommentLuv has IntenseDebate support as well. I might consider using the plugin again however I am weary of switching back to IntenseDebate now as the nesting in the replies would be lost when switching to IntenseDebate.

The combination of all these plugins would guarantee a significant increase in comments on your blog, you might feel a bit insecure in terms of SEO of using the first two plugins however let me assure I use these plugins on my blog and still rank very high on the SERP’s for very competitive keywords.

Remember, it’s all about give and take so make sure you actively participate in comment discussions and reply all commentators where necessary.
